Day-By-Day Program: 

 

Day 1  Sunday    Arrive Tallinn

Today arrive in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, one the three great capital cities that you will be visiting on this insightful tour. Independently transfer to Santa Barbara Hotel *** 


Day 2  Monday   Tallinn - Vihula
Today you will get introduced with the City tour to the its many landmarks. The City tour highlights the medieval Old Town with its Toompea Castle, Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Old Town Hall and Great Guild Hall. In the afternoon, drive 70 km east from the capital Tallinn to Lahemaa National Park to explore the natural landscapes of Estonia, check-in at the Vihula Manor Country Club & Spa ****, a charming 16th century estate located in the heart of the park. In the evening enjoy dinner at Kaval-Ants Tavern with typical countryside dishes in the rustic ambiance of the old ice cellar     


Day 3  Tuesday  Tallinn - Vihula
After breakfast explore the Lahemaa National Park with its incredible natural scenery and charming manor houses. Take a 2-hour walking tour through the park (medium difficulty) and visit the impressive Manor House in Palmse, from the von Pahlen family. From Lahemaa park the tour travels to Tartu, the University Town, where Estonia gained its statehood. Visit its charming Old Town and the University founded in 1632. Check-in at the London Hotel ****  


Day 4  Wednesday Tartu - Marciena
From Tartu we travel south to Valmiera, a Hanseatic town of the 14th century with an impressive castle built by the Livonian Order here. We take a tour of the Valmiera and visit a private Valmiermuiza Brewery with beer tasting. We will also visit a local farm to sample the delicious organic cheese produced by local farmers.       

In the afternoon, the tour arrives in Marciena Manor ****, a picturesque and romantic estate in the middle of Latvia. In the evening enjoy a BBQ dinner at Marciena Manor

 


Day 5  Thursday  Marciena - Daugavpils
Today en route from Marciena to Daugavpils, we stop at Aglona where we visit Aglona Basilica and the ceramics workshop, an important symbol of Latvian culture. Later today we arrive in Daugavpils, Latvia`s second largest city. We will visit the historical centre with its 19th century Daugavpils Fortress and the Mark Rothko Art Centre, the only place in Europe where the original paintings by the famous founder of abstract expressionism are on display. Check-in at the lovely Svente Manor **** for an overnight      


Day 6  Friday    Daugavpils - Vilnius

Today the tour travels south into Lithuania where we arrive in Aukstatija National park with its numerous pristine lakes scattered around forests and hills. We take a 20 km bike ride across the scenic landscapes and visit the pretty lakeside town of Paluse with its wooden church. In the afternoon we arrive in Vilnius where we check-in at the Ratonda Hotel ****   

 

Day 7  Saturday  In Vilnius
You will be introduced to the landmarks of medieval Vilnius with the walking tour of the capital. You will visit the Old Town with its Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter-and-Paul and St. Anne`s Churches, the Old University and the Gates of Dawn. Balance of the day at leisure   

  

Day 8  Sunday   Vilnius - Liepaja
From Vilnius we travel towards Trakai, the original medieval capital of Lithuania, where we make a stop near Trakai Castle located on the island in the middle of Lake Galve. We continue through the hilly landscapes on to Klaipeda, the only sea port in Lithuania. We take a tour of city`s Old Town with its winding cobblestone streets and old guild houses, the Theatre square and Aennchen von Tharau Fountain. We travel along the scenic coast line into Latvia before we reach the coastal town of Liepaja. Check-in at the Kolumbs Hotel **** for an overnight       

 

Day 9    Monday   Liepaja - Riga
Today we get familiar with the history of Liepaja, will take a stroll through the Old Town with its Trinity Church. From here dwe rive through the Duchy of Courland and visit its former capital Kuldiga, - also known for its waterfalls, cobblestones and beautiful buildings - before we head further to the fashionable Jurmala, on the shores of the Baltic Sea coast, for a quick tour. In the late afternoon, the tour gets to Riga, check-in at the Wellton Centrum Hotel **** for an overnight 

  

Day 10  Tuesday  In Riga
You will spend half a day walking with your guide through the Old Town of Riga. It includes Riga Castle, Dome Cathedral, St. Peter`s Church, Swedish Gates, Three Brothers, Large and Small Guild House and the Freedom Monument. The after noon is reserved for optional tours and / or independent activities

  

Day 11  Wednesday  Depart Riga
